DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
SERVICE OF PROCESS
Service of Process on Military Installation can be cumbersome if your are not familiar with this process. It may require that the Process Server go through the ProVost Marshal, Military Police, Judge Advocate General (JAG), Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) and/or Master of Arms for authorization to execute service. As a general consensus, the Process Server will be escorted to the Defendants dwelling or place of business. This is not consistent and is based on the rank and security level of the individual. When serving process on any of the Military Branch's of Service, there will be a Authorized Designee, or person authorized to accept service on behalf of the government but you must confirm who that person is and make contact with them before showing up.
